RIO DE JANEIRO, SALVADOR & NATAL

RIO: 4 nights with half day tour of Sugarloaf or Corcovador Mountains and BBQ lunch and Rio by Night with BBQ and samba show at Plataforma

HALF DAY CITY TOUR INCLUDING CORCOVADO & LUNCH

Upon departure from the hotel, you will travel to the Corcovado railway station at the foot of the Corcovado Mountain. A 3.5-kilometer (2-mile), 25-minute train ride will take you through the lush Tijuca Forest to the station on the top of the mountain. From there you will walk 222 steps to the 38-meter (125-foot) statue of Christ the Redeemer which stands with open arms at 710 meters (2,330 feet) above sea level. There will be time at leisure to enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the city before returning to the train to ride back down the mountain.

From Corcovado, the tour continues by the scenic Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon and then onto the residential areas and the beaches of São Corado, Ipanema and Copacabana that make Rio so famous. Lunch will be served at a local churrascaria, or Brazilian barbeque restaurant, where you can sample some of Brazil’s famous barbequed meats. At churrascarias they serve unlimited amounts of various kinds of meat, chicken and sausages that are cooked on large skewers and then served directly onto your plate. In addition, there are numerous hot side dishes and a salad buffet.
RIO BY NIGHT TOUR WITH DINNER & SAMBA SHOW

For this special evening, you will be transported to one of Rio’s many churrascarias, or popular barbeque restaurants where you can sample some of the country’s famous barbequed meats. At churrascarias they serve unlimited amounts of various kinds of meat, chicken and sausages that are cooked on large skewers and then served directly onto your plate. In addition, there are numerous hot side dishes and a salad buffet. Following dinner will be a short transfer to Plataforma 1 in the neighborhood of Leblon.

Plataforma’s talented performers will take you on a journey through Brazil’s cultural history with a music and dance show, including typical Afro-Brazilian dances, samba from carnival and much more. The show begins at 10 p.m. and ends at 11:30 p.m.

SALVADOR: 4 nights with half day city tour and Bahia by night with dinner and Afro-Brazilian show

SALVADOR

The capital and main attraction of the state of Bahia, Salvador was founded in 1549. Sometimes the city of Salvador is referred to as Bahia. It was the first capital of the original Portuguese colony of Brazil. With a large African influence, vibrant energy of its people and remarkable traditional architecture, there is much to see and do in Salvador. Along with the beaches and colorful historic district of Pelourinho, the lighthouse Farol da Barra is another famous site of Salvador. Bahia is known throughout Brazil for its lively music and food made primarily with coconut milk and palm tree oil.

HALF DAY CITY TOUR WITH LUNCH

This half day tour shows two distinct aspects of Salvador, with an emphasis on the city’s rich history. The tour will start at the lighthouse and then you will head to Pelourinho, the historical downtown area, for a walk through cobblestone streets lined with colorful colonial buildings. A national historical site and UNESCO World Heritage Site, there is much to see in Pelourinho. Following the tour, lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

BAHIA BY NIGHT DINNER AND FOLKLORE SHOW

This evening, you will enjoy the spicy specialties of the local cuisine, a blend of African and European flavors, at the restaurant Solar do Unhão, a former colonial sugar mill. Following dinner is an energizing folklore show with a special focus on African-Brazilian rhythms and dances, including capoeira. This tour is not available on Sundays.

NATAL: 3 nights with half day dune buggy tour of Genipabu and half day city tour

NATAL

Natal is located in the northeast state of Rio Grande do Norte. This is one of the most popular destinations in Brazil due to itsmany days of sunshine, beautiful beaches, warm blue sea and sand dunes. Natal’s most famous beaches are Ponta Negra, Genipabú and Pipa. A popular activity is riding dune buggies among the huge sand dunes. There are hundreds of miles of beaches north and south of the city with small fishing villages throughout the region.

HALF DAY CITY TOUR

This half day tour of Natal starts by driving toward Ponta Negra, passing by Via Costeira from the urban beaches to the Reis Magos Fortress where you will stop for a visit. Leaving the fortress, you will drive through three neighborhoods: Santos Reis, Rocas and Ribeira. You will see the downtown area and the city’s main cathedral. The final stop is a visit to a market where you can buy local handicrafts and souvenirs.

HALF DAY DUNE BUGGY TOUR OF GENIPABU BEACH

With some of the most famous scenery in Natal, Genipabu is a tropical oasis of sand dunes and palm trees. For the shore excursion, you will travel approximately 16 miles from Natal, to the small fishing village of Genipabu. When you arrive, you will enjoy a dune buggy ride over the huge sand dunes at the popular dunes ecological park with its breathtaking natural scenery. Three people can ride in each buggy.

Following the ride through the dunes, we will drive past the beaches with a stop where you can purchase beverages and snacks. Following this tropical adventure, you will be transferred back to the hotel.
